How to Use Carrier Oils
To use essential oils neat and directly onto your skin can be harmful and cause severe irritation to your skin. So with this in mind always use a carrier oil.
Carrier oils are used to dilute the essential oils and help “carry” them into the skin.
Carrier oils are vegetable oils, such as coconut oil or avocado oil, that have been derived from the seeds, kernels or nuts of a plant.
Essential oils are distilled from the aromatic leaves, bark and roots of plants so if you apply to your skin directly, they can cause reactions, such as severe irritation, redness or burning.
Dosage of essential/carrier oils:
Facial massage/skincare = 1-3 drops essential oil to 5 ml carrier oil
General massage = 5- 10 drops essential oil to 15 ml carrier oil
Localised areas = max. 20 drop to 10 ml
Baths/footbaths = max. 10 drops into water
